Restoring a house, preserving timeless beauty

A residence with memory

Avlí & Phós began with a 19th-century residence, dating to before 1888, and the choice to treat it as part of Thissio’s living fabric. Its stone walls, courtyard, timber, soft tones, wooden frames and old proportions were kept close to the surface, so your own story could enter the Athenian narrative with a sense of belonging. The memories you create here do not sit apart from the house’s past; they settle into another layer of its continuing life, carried with you into the streets where Athens still remembers itself.

A slower way to enjoy

Here, restoration becomes part of the welcome. Four self-contained suites gather around the bright courtyard, giving you space to breathe deeply, let time loosen, make coffee, prepare breakfast, read in the morning light, sit outside with respect for the calm of the house, or return slowly from the city as the sky turns purple. Each apartment includes the comforts that make independent living feel natural: kitchen facilities, an espresso machine, soft bedding, daily care and thoughtful amenities.

Discreet hospitality

This is not a place of anonymous hotel routines; it is a restored Athenian home, with privacy when you want it and quiet care when you need it. Transfers, baby equipment, luggage assistance, laundry and extra housekeeping can be arranged on request, so your experience can adapt gently around you. The city remains just beyond the door, but inside, the pace changes. Every guest arrives differently; tell us what matters, and we will do our best to make your time here feel truly your own.

Care with restraint

Luxury is not loud; it lives in subtle details that create effortless wellbeing and a sense of balance. We reject excess where it adds nothing, support responsible housekeeping, and encourage small choices that reduce unnecessary water use, waste and energy consumption. From avoiding single-use plastics to choosing reusable bottles and everyday items where possible, sustainability here is not presented as spectacle; it is part of respecting the building, the neighbourhood, the city, its community and, of course, the guests we welcome.
